Cellist Young Kim is a graduate of the University of Washington with a Bachelor of Music in
Cello Performance under the guidance of award-winning cellist Saeunn Thorsteindottir. Young
Kim then honed his craft under the tutelage of renowned cellist Amos Yang at the San Francisco
Conservatory of Music.
Young began private cello lessons and joined the Hawaii Youth Orchestra at the age of 7, where
he fell in love with music and embarked on his musical journey. He has continued learning ever
since, and his dedication was recognized with honorable mentions in the Hawaii State Music
Competition.
Young is a passionate performer of both solo and chamber music. In addition to performing, he is
dedicated to fostering a love of music in others through teaching and cultivating the next
generation of cellists. With over ten years of experience teaching students of all ages and
abilities, he finds immense satisfaction in sharing his knowledge to nurture their musical growth.
