

Yu-Chen Hsieh
Born in Taiwan, pianist Yu-Chen Hsieh has built a multifaceted career as a performer, teacher, and collaborative artist. She holds a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from National Taiwan Normal University, where she studied under Da-Ming Zhu and Chia-Chi Hsu. Hsieh later earned her Master of Music in Piano Performance from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, studying with Roberto Plano, and is currently pursuing her Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano Performance and Literature at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign under Professor Timothy Ehlen.

She was the recipient of the Langford Fellowship in 2022 and served as a Collaborative Piano Teaching Assistant from 2023 to 2025. In addition, she participated in the Aspen Music Festival and School in 2019, where she further expanded her artistic experience through intensive study and performance.
As an educator, Hsieh has extensive teaching experience, having worked as a piano and cello instructor in Taiwan. She has guided students in piano, sight-singing, aural skills, and music fundamentals. Known for her supportive and engaging teaching style, she is dedicated to helping each student develop both strong technical skills and a lifelong appreciation for music.
