Alice Lin

Professional piano accompanist and teacher Alice Lin was born in Taiwan. She started playing the piano at the age of 6 and violin at age 9. At age 13, Ms. Lin moved to Prague, Czech Republic, where she attended a local music school to study piano and violin. While at the school, she won prizes in competitions in both instruments.

 

Later, Ms. Lin entered the Conservatory of Prague to major in piano, where she performed in concerts and music festivals. She received her bachelor’s degree and master’s degree from the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague under professor František Malý. During her time at the Academy, Ms. Lin participated in music festivals and international courses in Europe. At her final master’s recital, she had the honor of premiering the Concerto for Piano and Strings by the brilliant pianist and composer Adam Skoumal.

 

In 2014, Ms. Lin founded the piano and saxophone duo, Duo Altera, with friend and talented saxophonist Tereza Novotná.

 

From 2014-2019, Ms. Lin was a piano teacher and a piano accompanist at two music schools in Prague, where she taught students from ages 6 to adult.

 

As a piano accompanist, Ms. Lin collaborated with choirs and orchestras and was awarded prizes in competitions for excellence as an accompanist.

 

Ms. Lin has an extensive classical music background, but she also enjoys improvising. To her, every child is unique, but she wants every student to discover the joy of playing music.
