jiayi huang

Jiayi started Violin from age of six. At the age of nine, he was accepted into Wuhan Conservatory of Music Elementary school. Entering Shanghai Conservatory of Music in Violin Performance Major, he decided to switch to Viola in the first year of college, and graduated with a Viola Performance degree in 2012.

 

Right after, Jiayi started to serve as Associate Principal Viola in the Zhejiang Symphony Orchestra (China). He has performed in Konzerthaus Berlin (Berlin, Germany), Teatro Monumental (Madrid, Spain), Auditorio de la Diputación de Alicante (Alicante, Spain), Palacio de las Artes Reina Sofía (Valencia, Spain) during that time.

 

In 2014, he went to San Francisco Conservatory of Music, study with Jodi Levitz and Jay Liu. One year later, he won the section position of the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra (Florida), and received his tenure in 2016. In the 2021-2022 season, he was appointed by the music director to serve as Acting Principal Viola. During those six seasons working with the Jacksonville Symphony, he had the chance to perform with the most outstanding classical musicians in the world, such as Langlang, Joshua Bell, Renee Fleming, James Ehnes.

 

Besides playing concerts and chamber music, Jiayi also coaches the Viola Section of Jacksonville Symphony Youth Orchestra. Jiayi is very excited to teach private violin and viola, as well as chamber music at Bravo Conservatory of Music.
