Yanting is a Doctoral candidate in Music at the Frost School of Music, where she studies with Kevin Kenner, who won an award at the International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw in 1990. She holds a Master’s degree in Classical Piano Performance from the Manhattan School of Music and a Bachelor’s degree in Piano Performance from San Jose State University. Her principal teachers have also included Wael Farouk and Frank Levy.
In her performing career, Yanting has received notable accolades and recognition. She won 1st Prize at the Humboldt State University Concerto Competition in 2018, where she had the honor of performing a Mozart concerto with the Humboldt Symphony. She also achieved 1st Prize at the North State Symphony Young Artist Competition in 2022 and was invited to perform with the North State Symphony in 2020. Earlier, Yanting earned 3rd Prize at the North-coast International Music Festival Competition in 2017.
Yanting has collaborated with prominent musicians including Olga Kern, Alexander Kobrin, Ursula Oppens, Douglas Humpherys, Barry Snyder, Logan Skelton, Ory Shihor, Joseph Rackers, and Robert Shannon. She has also participated in and performed at notable summer festivals, including the 2023 Hunter International Music Festival in New York, the 2023 Vivace International Music Festival in North Carolina, and the 2017 and 2019 North-coast International Music Festival in California.
Yanting is passionate about sharing music with students, emphasizing the importance of proper technique and approach. Through her teaching, she aims to cultivate and inspire students to tackle challenges with bravery, solve problems with intelligence, and develop their own philosophies, even within the broader world.
